The ancient Chinese used the fireworks to drive away evil spirits. Consequently as time passes, fireworks have also been used in celebrations and events like festivities and this tradition spread to the Europe and the World.
The purpose still rings true today because all around the world, fireworks are still used to celebrate major events like the New Year. The onset of 2000, also displayed fantastic and amazing creations of fireworks masters and been lighted simultaneously all over the world to greet the Millennium and bring hope and wonder to all peoples of different continents.

1. New Year’s Eve (worldwide). All through the world, the New Year is ushered in with a lot of excitement. Every country usually celebrates it with massive fireworks display. Sydney, Australia, is one of the first countries to celebrate it due to their location relative to the world’s time zones.
2. Fourth of July (United States) . The Fourth of July is a federal holiday celebrating the country’s declaration of independence from Great Britain on July 4, 1776. Throughout the United States, fireworks displays are held especially in the major cities such as Washington DC, Detroit and St. Louis.
3. Singapore Fireworks Celebrations (Singapore) . Also previously called as Singapore Fireworks Festival , this is an annual event held in celebration of the country’s National Day. Pyrotechnics teams are invited to this event to create fireworks displays on different nights. The festival features local and foreign teams to amaze the public with different fireworks colors and effects.
The annual festival has grown in magnitude, from 4,000 rounds used in 2004, 6,000 in 2005, to over 9,100 in 2006.
4. Guy Fawkes Night (Great Britain and several former British colonies) – in 1605, Guy Fawkes and his conspirators attempted to assassinate the King of England by placing some 30 barrels of gunpowder in the cellar of the Westminster Hall of the Parliament of England. He failed and was arrested. On the same day every year, people from Great Britain and some of its former colonies celebrate the event by having fireworks displays and named Guy Fawkes Night or bonfire night by filling the sky with exploding fireworks, and by burning an effigy of Guy Fawkes on a bonfire.
There are still many festivals celebrated across the globe with fireworks display as one of its highlight and thus, the use of fireworks in important celebrations will continue as part of the tradition of every nation.
